About Me

I opened Large Marge's in 2006 in Wheatridge, CO. I was born and raised in South Philly. I'm a typical Philly Girl, graduating from St. Maria Goretti, was one of the first women in the Philadelphia Mummers Parade. (I played and taught Sax) In 1982 I joined the U.S. Coast Guard. Yep I'm a Vet!

I then went on to work for the Vallejo Police Dept as a 911 Dispatcher. I took a short break to work as a Probation Officer then went back to Vallejo Dispatching. I suppose you can call us a dysfunctional family at Vallejo. I've come to love my family at Vallejo. I have lost two friends in the line of duty over the last 10 years. My friend Officer Jim Capoot was killed on Nov 17, 2011. Most people take police officers for granted but my friends, the men and women in blue, put their lives on the line everyday. These folks not only deal with crime but have to calm down family issues, administer first aide, help the homeless, basically everything you don't want to look at. When you call 911 with your problem, the dispatcher on the other end probably is working a 16 hour shift due to short staffing. The Police Officer who arrives at your door may have just handled a child abuse call then moves on to the next call for 10 straight hours or more. Then when they are done their shift they may have to go to court to ensure a case they worked regarding a criminal is sent away.

I have decided to dedicate the proceeds of The Flaming Poo Hot Sauce to our cycling teams charity rides that we participate in. My friend John Garcia will be riding in the POLICE UNITY TOUR this May in Honor of our friend Jim Capoot. It is a 3 day cycling trip from New York City to Washington D. C. I will post his site to contribute donations when he gets it up and running. I am looking forward in participating in it next year May 2013.

I retired from Vallejo in 2005 because after 15 years I was tired. I decided to open a small sandwich shop because I love to cook and make spectacular food. It is now going on my 7th year and I have decided this will be my last year in the business. I have met some wonderful people but the business itself in these economic times is much too stressful for someone who is supposed to be retired..LOL! In the meantime I will still continue putting out the BEST CHEESESTEAKS IN COLORADO! I get my bread Fresh everyday from Dolce Sicilia located at 32 & Wadsworth. This is the kind of bread I grew up on. Right from the local baker, not frozen or shipped in from somewhere else. Nothing against Amoroso but to be honest it is frozen and sometimes re-frozen. I feel fresh baked bread is a better quality for the Sandwich.

I added burgers back on the menu but this time I'm keeping it simple, very affordable and great.

I believe the best food is made fresh and from scratch. We make our own hot sauce, Green Chili, Marinara, get fresh baked Rolls everyday and use Fresh Ground beef for our burgers.

Thank you for all of your support over the years.

Marge
